About this course:
Why is balance important? The bipedal musculoskeletal system functions optimally when ideal posture and balance of the musculature of the body is achieved. When ideal posture and range of motion is achieved and maintained the brain can send a larger amount of information to the body and the body is able to function more efficiently. Pain and dysfunction often occur because the body is attempting to operate without the proper succession of muscles firing in a pattern that create the necessary support and stability for a specific movement. When muscles are activated in a balanced way the brain can more effectively invite all desired muscles to engage in a movement pattern.

What you will learn:
In this course we will learn how to assess muscular imbalance that lends to dysfunction and instability and learn hands-on bodywork techniques that will correct these imbalances. Bodywork is often one directional or applied in a pattern that will counter a specific pattern of tension and is often intentionally unbalanced. When applied by a trained therapist this can be a highly effective set of tools for alleviating discomfort in the body and avoiding further injury. These techniques can easily be woven into any traditional massage session for added effectiveness.
