This Seven-Part Series
Teaches students a hands-on, head-to-toe, full body massage. Massage Therapy I is the strong foundation of all bodywork taught at the Spirit Wellness Institute.
Full Body Treatment Includes:
- Preparing the Body for a Treatment: (Draping and Ethical Boundries of touch)
- Supine, Cranium and Face Massage
- Front of the Body Part I
- Front of the Body Part II
- Foot Massage
- Preparing the Body for a Treatment Prone
- The Back of the Body
Massage Therapy I
Facilitates and maintains good physical condition and health by normalizing and improving muscle tone, promoting relaxation, pain relief, injury rehabilitation, stimulating circulation and producing therapeutic effects on the respiratory and nervous system as well ass promotes subtle interactions among all body systems.
Students Will Learn
The systematic application of touch from one person to another, using manual, Swedish and therapeutic techniques of massaging, stroking (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), Swedish massage, friction, stretching, compression, passive and active joint movements within the normal physiologic range of motion.
Who Can Take This Class
Anyone can take this class! If you would like to learn how to give a massage, this class is for you. It is our goal to provide our culture with healthy and safe touch education. Some students will continue on through our program and become professionals and others will have a great set of skills that they can use for life. Please note, it is prohibited by law as well as unethical to take money in exchange for massage therapy if you are not fully educated and subsiquently certified by the state.
Is used for stress reduction and a general feeling of well-being. This is the most comprehensive and systematic method of massage used in the country today. Students will learn a variety of movements that will encompass major muscle groups and joints. The therapeutic value of massage therapy is unlike any other form of healing.
